Sphere

Find the radius (r): Measure the distance from the center to the surface.

Cube the radius: Multiply the radius by itself twice.

Multiply by π: Use 3.14159 for π.

Multiply by 4/3 : Apply this factor to the result.

Examples

Example: Finding the Volume of a Basketball

  1. Measure the Radius: A standard basketball has a radius of about 12 cm.
  2. Cube the Radius: 123=1,72812^3 = 1,728123=1,728 cubic centimeters.
  3. Multiply by π: 1,728×3.14159≈5,429.541,728 approx
  4. Multiply by 4/3 4/3×5,429.54≈7,239.39≈

So, the volume of the basketball is approximately 7,239.39 cubic centimeters.
